Nelson Cruz Joins Dodgers As Adviser

Longtime major league outfielder Nelson Cruz has joined the Los Angeles Dodgers as an adviser who is expected to work mostly out of the team's academy in his native Dominican Republic, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

Cruz, 43, announced his retirement from the majors in early November, then played five games with the Gigantes del Cibao of the Dominican Winter League as something of a farewell tour.

 The Los Angeles Angels have hired Barry Enright to be their pitching coach.

Manager Ron Washington gave the job Tuesday to Enright, 37, who has only been in coaching for five years. He was a pitching coach in the Arizona Diamondbacks' system from 2019 to '21, and he spent the past two years as their assistant major league pitching coach and minor league pitching coordinator.
