The Toronto Blue Jays have hired James Click as the team's vice president of baseball strategy, the team announced Monday.

Click previously served as general manager of the Houston Astros. His contract expired in October, and he stayed on in the role through the Astros' World Series victory. In Click's three years as Houston's GM, the team went to the ALCS three times and the World Series twice, winning last season's title.

The Seattle Mariners have signed Kole Calhoun to a Minor League deal.

Calhoun, 35, spent last season with the Texas Rangers. He slashed .196/.257/.330 with 12 home runs.

He needs to spend another 42 days on an MLB roster to reach 10 years of service time and lock in the full pension. 

The Minnesota Twins on Tuesday agreed to a contract with veteran infielder Donovan Solano, according to multiple reports.

The deal is for one year at the major-league level, according to The Athletic, and gives the Twins depth at several positions and a decent bat at the bottom of the order.

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed left-handed pitcher Justin Wilson to a one-year contract with a club option for 2024 and placed right-hander Jason Alexander on the 60-day injured list.

The Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Hunter Strickland agreed to terms on a minor league contract with an invitation to major league camp.

Strickland went 3-3 with a 4.91 ERA and seven saves in 66 relief appearances for the Reds last year. The previous season, he pitched for the Rays, Angels and Brewers.

Veteran switch-hitting outfielder Robbie Grossman signed a one-year contract Friday with the Texas Rangers, who are unsettled in left field.

Grossman's deal, which could be worth as much as $5 million, came three days before Monday's full-squad reporting date. His base salary will be $2 million and he could earn as much as $3 million more in incentives.

The Philadelphia Phillies have signed left-handed reliever Jose Alvarado to a three-year contract extension, team president of baseball operations David Dombrowski announced Friday.

The deal links Alvarado to the Phillies through the 2025 season and includes a team option for 2026. According to multiple reports, Alvarado will make $9 million in both 2024 and 2025 while the 2026 option is also for $9 million or a $500,000 buyout.

The San Diego Padres have agreed to a Minor League deal with Cole Hamels.

Hamels could earn $2 million if he makes the Major League roster.

He will receive an invitation to Spring Training once the deal is finalized.

The Houston Astros have signed right-hander Cristian Javier to a five-year contract that avoided a salary arbitration hearing, the team announced Friday.

Sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan that the deal -- to run through the 2027 season -- is for $64 million, and it includes a $2 million signing bonus, payable within 30 days of the deal's approval by the commissioner's office.

Former Texas Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler returned to the team as a special assistant to general manager Chris Young, his teammate in the organization's minor league system nearly two decades ago.

Young said Monday that Kinsler, who was part of the franchise's only two World Series teams in 2010 and 2011, will be heavily involved in player development and providing mentorship to both players and staff.
