The New York Mets and Adam Ottavino have finalized a one-year, $4.5 million deal.

Ottavino spent the past two seasons with the Mets, going 1-7 with a 3.21 ERA and a career-best 12 saves in 66 appearances last year. 

In early November, the reliever declined a $6.75 million player option for 2024 that included $4 million that would have been paid from 2032-35, reducing the present-day value to an estimated $4.4 million.

The Tigers made an unusual bet on a player with no major league experience, signing 22-year-old infield prospect Colt Keith to a six-year contract Sunday that guarantees him $28,642,500.

His deal includes three team options that could make it worth $64 million over nine seasons, and the Tigers said there are escalators that increase the value to $82 million over nine years.

Carlos Carrasco is circling back with the Guardians.

The 36-year-old right-hander, who spent 11 seasons pitching for Cleveland, has agreed to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training with the team, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press on Saturday.

Carrasco is expected to be with the club next month at camp in Arizona, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team is not confirming the deal it until it is signed.

The Athletic was first to report Carrasco's return to the Guardians.

The Seattle Mariners have signed Austin Voth to a one-year contract.

The right-hander pitched for the University of Washington.

Voth, 31, made 25 relief appearances for the Baltimore Orioles last season and was 1-2 with a 5.19 ERA in 34 2/3 innings. 

Former Washington Nationals closer Sean Doolittle was hired by the club as a pitching strategist on Tuesday.

The Nationals said the 37-year-old Doolittle, who announced his retirement as a player in September, will "serve as a liaison between the analytics department and pitching staff, while assisting the manager and pitching coach with strategy, mental preparation and mechanics."

Dusty Baker is returning to the San Francisco Giants for a third stint with the team, this time as a special assistant in the front office, according to multiple reports.

An announcement is expected this week.

Baker is still beloved in the Bay Area, and this could be his final baseball stop in what almost certainly will be a Hall of Fame career.

New starter Shota Imanaga immediately endeared himself to Cubs fans after taking the stage for his introductory news conference Friday.

"Hey Chicago," Imanaga said in English. "What do you say? The Cubs are going to win today."

It was an early clue into his personality as Imanaga, 30, begins his MLB career after signing a four-year, $53 million contract with the Cubs this week. If he pitches well, the Cubs have the option, after his second and third season, to extend that contract out to five years and $80 million.

The Los Angeles Dodgers rehired longtime major leaguer Raul Ibanez as their new vice president of baseball development and special projects, the team announced Friday.

Ibanez spent the past two years working with Major League Baseball as a senior vice president of on-field operations, reporting directly to executive vice president Morgan Sword -- who helped spearhead last year's rule changes -- while working on issues related to rules, equipment and on-field technology. Prior to that, Ibanez spent six years as a special assistant within the Dodgers' baseball operations department.

The Atlanta Braves extended the contract of president of baseball operations and general manager Alex Anthopoulos through the 2031 season on Friday.

He was promoted to his current role in February 2020 after joining the Braves as executive vice president and GM in November 2017.
