Phillies Give Matt Straham Extension, Trade Jake Cave To Rockies

Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Matt Strahm has agreed to a contract extension through the 2025 season, the team announced Sunday.

Financial terms were not disclosed on the deal for Strahm, but the club holds a vesting option for the 2026 season.

Also on Sunday, the Phillies traded outfielder Jake Cave to the Colorado Rockies for cash considerations. The Rockies, in turn, placed right-hander German Marquez (elbow) on the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster for Cave.

Cardinals Manager Oliver Marmol Earns Two-Year Extension

The St. Louis Cardinals have signed manager Oliver Marmol to a two-year contract extension through the 2026 season, the team announced on Friday.

His current deal was set to expire at the end of the 2024 season.

Marmol, the youngest skipper in the majors at 37, compiled a 164-160 record in his first two seasons.

Outfielder Adam Duvall rejoined the Atlanta Braves on a one-year, $3 million contract Thursday.

The free agent spent parts of five seasons in Atlanta before suiting up for Boston in 2023.

Duvall, 35, batted .247 with 21 home runs and 58 RBIs in 92 games with the Red Sox.

Mariners Sign Reliever Ryne Stanek

The Seattle Mariners have signed reliever Ryne Stanek to a one-year contract.

Stanek, 32, has 23 postseason appearances, all but two of them with the Houston Astros the past three seasons.

He was 3-1 with a 4.09 ERA in the regular season last year after going 2-1 with a 1.15 ERA in 2022. It was the lowest ERA in Houston history for a pitcher with at least 50 innings.

Joey Votto Signs Minor League Deal With Jays

Joey Votto has agreed to a minor league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. 

Votto was born and raised 25 minutes from the Rogers Centre.

Votto, 40, played 17 seasons for the Cincinnati Reds, earning six All-Star appearances and winning NL MVP.

Votto struggled the past two seasons, batting .205 in 2022 and .202 in 2023.

Red Sox Sign C.J. Cron To Minor League Deal

First baseman C.J. Cron has agreed to a minor league deal with the Boston Red Sox that includes an invitation to big league camp for spring training.

The Red Sox announced the deal Sunday, and Red Sox manager Alex Cora said the right-handed hitter likely will make his spring training debut March 11 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Duplantier did not receive an invitation to Major League spring training.

The pitcher was a third-round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2016.
