Edwin Encarnacion Agrees To Three-Year Deal With Indians

Edwin Encarnacion has agreed to sign with the Cleveland Indians on a three-year deal worth approximately $20 million per season. The deal will also contain an option for a fourth season.

Encarnacion, who turns 34 in January, had an .886 OPS in 702 plate appearances last season with the Toronto Blue Jays. Encarnacion had previously posted an OPS of .900 or better in every season since 2012. 

Toronto previously signed Kendrys Morales in the offseason and had reportedly offered a four-year, $80 million deal.

The Oakland A's were also involved in pursuing Encarnacion in the final stretch of talks.

Colabello, who received a non-roster invitation to spring training, served an 80-game suspension last season for a performance-enhancing drug violation.

He hit .321 for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2015.

The San Francisco Giants have signed Jimmy Rollins to a minor league contract.

The deal will pay Rollins $1 million if he makes the major league roster, according to a source.

Rollins, 38, signed a similar deal with the Chicago White Sox last year and made the major league roster, but was designated for assignment in June.

Free agent Carlos Beltran has agreed to a one-year deal worth $16 million with the Houston Astros, a source told ESPN's Buster Olney on Saturday.

The move adds to a busy offseason for the Astros, who have boosted their lineup by trading for Yankees catcher Brian McCann, and signing free agent outfielder Josh Reddick to a four-year, $52 million contract.

Houston missed the playoffs this year after winning the AL wild card in 2015.
