The Cincinnati Reds have signed Trey Mancini to a minor league contract.

Mancini was released by the Chicago Cubs earlier this month after being designated for assignment on Aug. 1.

He signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the Cubs as a free agent last offseason.

With an eye toward improving their catching in the future, the Detroit Tigers designated veteran Eric Haase for assignment and signed free agent catcher Carson Kelly on Saturday.

Haase, 30, has been with Detroit since 2020. The 30-year-old has struggled at the plate, especially against left-handers with just a .129 average.

Haase caught the second game of Friday night's doubleheader before manager A.J. Hinch told him he was being designated.

After making a number of effective but unheralded moves at the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers made another addition Friday when they signed infielder Kolten Wong to a minor league deal.

The Houston Astros have agreed to a minor league deal with catcher Andrew Knapp.

Knapp will report to Triple-A Sugar Land.

He had been released from a minor league pact with the Detroit Tigers last week. 

The Texas Rangers signed infielder/outfielder Josh Harrison to a minor league deal, his agency announced Tuesday.

The Philadelphia Phillies released the 36-year-old veteran on Aug. 2 to make room for right-hander Michael Lorenzen, acquired from the Detroit Tigers at the trade deadline.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have come to terms on a contract agreement with Korean right-hander Hyun-Seok Jang.

The 19-year-old, who just finished high school in Korea, was widely expected to become the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming Korean Baseball Organization Draft in September.

Jang and the Dodgers agreed on a deal with a $900,000 signing bonus, according to two sources.
