Mets Sign Dylan Bundy For Minor League Depth

The New York Mets have signed Dylan Bundy to a Minor League deal.

He's not a candidate to begin the season on the Major League roster, but instead Bundy was signed to provide Minor League depth.

Bundy made 29 starts for the Minnesota Twins last season, posting a 4.89 ERA over 140 innings.

Sergio Romo Signs Deal To Retire With Giants

The San Francisco Giants have signed longtime reliever Sergio Romo, who will retire as a member of the team at the end of spring training.

Romo signed a minor league contract with an invite to major league spring training. He will retire March 27 during the Giants' final spring training game against the Oakland Athletics.

"The relationship that Giants fans have with their players is unique -- few exemplify that bond more than Sergio," Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi said in a statement Saturday. "After all that he accomplished as a Giant from 2008 to 2016, including his huge contributions to the championship teams, it's a thrill to have him back in a San Francisco uniform."

Team Nicaragua lost to the Dominican Republic during pool-play at the World Baseball Classic on Monday afternoon, but one of its pitchers won in a big way.

Duque Hebbert, a 21-year-old right-hander who's listed at 5-foot-9, struck out MLB superstars Juan Soto, Julio Rodriguez and Rafael Devers in the ninth inning of Nicaragua's 6-1 loss and earned himself a contract with the Detroit Tigers in the process.

According to a report, it's a non-roster deal.

The Marlins have been linked to Gurriel for a while. The 38-year-old hit .242/.288/.360 in 584 plate appearances for the Houston Astros in 2022.

He received an invitation to Major League camp.

Iglesias, an 11-year veteran, recorded 467 plate appearances for the Colorado Rockies last season. He hit .292/.328/.380.

Left-handed reliever Will Smith agreed to a $1.5 million, one-year contract with the Texas Rangers on Saturday and will report to spring training.

Smith, 33, was 0-3 with a 3.97 ERA and five saves in 65 relief appearances last year for Atlanta and Houston, which acquired him on Aug. 2 for current Ranger Jake Odorizzi. The Astros declined a $13 million option on Nov. 9, allowing Smith to become a free agent as he completed a $40 million, three-year contract.
