The Miami Marlins have agreed to a contract extension with Miguel Rojas that will keep him under contract through the 2023 season.
Rojas, who had already locked in a $5.5 million salary for the 2022 season when he triggered a vesting option in September, is reportedly signing a two-year, $10 million deal.
The Chicago Cubs named Carter Hawkins their 16th general manager in franchise history Friday when they hired him away from the Cleveland Indians, the team announced.
Hawkins, 37, spent 14 seasons with Cleveland in various roles, including the past five as an assistant general manager.
Antonio Senzatela has signed a five-year, $50.5 million contract extension with the Colorado Rockies.
The 26-year-old went 4-10 with a 4.42 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 105 strikeouts against 32 walks in 156 2/3 innings this season.
Senzatela has been better at Coors Field than away from it. He had a 3.97 ERA in 15 home starts this season and 5.05 in 13 road starts. He was set for two more arbitration years, so this deal buys those out as well as three years of free agency.
The Colorado Rockies made Bill Schmidt their permanent general manager Saturday, promoting him from the interim GM role he had held since May.
The Rockies were 74-85 when they made the announcement before falling to Arizona, 11-2.
