The Chicago Cubs have reached an agreement on a contract with Joc Pederson.

The contract is pending a physical.

The New York Yankees announced today that they have signed two-time Cy Young Award winner RHP Corey Kluber to a one-year contract.

Kluber, 34, made just one start in 2020, tossing 1.0 scoreless inning for Texas before being removed with tightness behind his right shoulder that was later diagnosed as a Grade 2 tear of the teres major muscle in his right shoulder, causing him to miss the remainder of the season. The start was his first Major League appearance since suffering a broken right forearm after being hit by a line drive on May 1, 2019 at Miami with Cleveland.

The Baltimore Orioles have added Freddy Galvis on a one-year, $1.5 million deal.

Galvis, 31, hit .220 with seven homers and 16 RBIs during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

He is expected to take over as Baltimore's shortstop from Jose Iglesias, who was traded to the Los Angeles Angels in December.

The Minnesota Twins have agreed to terms on a one-year, $10.5 million deal with Andrelton Simmons, according to sources.

Since his first full season in 2013, Simmons leads all of baseball with 172 defensive runs saved. 

The 31-year-old will be the Twins' starting shortstop, with Jorge Polanco moving to second base and Luis Arraez still expected to get plenty of at-bats in a super-utility role.

The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to a five-year, $115 million deal with J.T. Realmuto, according to sources.

Realmuto, 29, hit .266 with 11 homers and 32 RBIs with the Phillies during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

The catcher declined an $18.9 million, one-year qualifying offer, instead seeking a longer-term deal.

Since 2018, Realmuto leads all MLB catchers in WAR (10.1), RBIs (189) and stolen bases (16) and is second in slugging percentage (.489) and OPS (.825).

The Atlanta Braves have signed Pablo Sandoval to a Minor League contract that will carry a $1 million value if he's added to the Major League roster, according to a source.

Sandoval, 34, hit .214 and produced a .549 OPS over 94 plate appearances with the San Francisco Giants and Braves last year.

He signed with Atlanta after being released by San Francisco on Sept. 10.

The San Diego Padres have agreed to a three-year, $21 million deal with Jurickson Profar, according to sources.

Profar played five defensive positions for the Padres last season, while spending most of his time at left field and second base.

He hit a career-high .278 with seven home runs and 25 RBIs in 56 games during the 2020 season.

The Washington Nationals are re-signing Ryan Zimmerman to a one-year, $1 million contract, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Zimmerman opted out of the 2020 season because of concerns about his family's safety amid the coronavirus pandemic but is set to play his 16th major league season, all with the Nationals,

The Houston Astros have reached an agreement on a two-year, $7 million contract with Jason Castro, according to sources.

Castro, who was drafted by the Astros in 2008, spent the 2020 season with the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Angels.

The contract includes $2 million in possible escalators based on games played at catcher in 2021.

The Kansas City Royals are bringing back Wade Davis on a Minor League contract.

Davis, 35, will go to spring training trying to earn a spot on the Major League roster.

If added to the 40-man roster, Davis would get a one-year contract paying at a rate of $1.25 million.
