New York took him with the 18th overall pick earlier this month.

The Yankees will assign Rutherford to its Gulf Coast League affiliate.

Rutherford has signed for $3,282,000 -- significantly over the allotted slot bonus of $2,441,600 for his slot.

He is a left-handed-hitting prospect out of Chaminade College Preparatory School (CA).

The Los Angeles Angels have signed Torii Hunter, Jr., who they drafted in the 23rd round earlier this month.

Hunter Jr. is also a football receiver at Notre Dame and he will play his senior season for the Fighting Irish in the fall.

He has been a part-time player for the Irish baseball team for two seasons, largely used as a defensive replacement and pinch runner.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a $2 million bonus with Cuban outfielder Yordan Alvarez, according to a report.

Alvarez appeared in Cuba's Serie Nacional in 2013-14, beginning at just 16 years of age, and compiled a .279/.342/.327 batting line over 239 plate appearances.

The Boston Red Sox have signed Casey Janssen to a Minor League contract, according to a report.

Janssen, 34, is expected to pitch for Triple-A Pawtucket after a stay at the low Minor League level.
