Dodgers Re-Sign League To $22.5M Deal

The Dodgers have re-signed Brandon League to a three-year, $22.5 million contract.

Ned Colletti said immediately after the season that keeping his bullpen together was among his top priorities.

League was 2-1 with a 2.30 ERA and six saves for the Dodgers after they acquired him from the Mariners at midseason.

The deal also includes a $7.5 million option for 2016 that vests if League finishes 55 games in 2015.

Indians Sign 18-Year-Old Japanese Outfielder

The Indians have signed an 18-year-old Japanese outfielder to a minor league contract.

Takuya Tsuchida will go to spring training with minor leaguers in March and probably open the year in extended spring.

He can play center field and second base.

Dodgers Hire Gerry Hunsicker As Adviser

The Dodgers have hired longtime baseball executive Gerry Hunsicker as a senior adviser Thursday, according to an ESPN.com report.

Hunsicker has worked for the Rays since 2005.

Royals Name Doug Henry Bullpen Coach

The Royals today named Doug Henry the bullpen coach for the 2013 season.  Henry, who served as the Royals interim bullpen coach the final two weeks of the 2012 season, takes over for Steve Foster, who was named the club’s Special Assistant to GM/Minor League Pitching Coordinator on August 31. 

“Doug has worked as a pitching coach or coordinator at nearly every minor league level and brings a strong working relationship with a majority of our current Major League relief pitchers,” Royals’ GM Dayton Moore said.  “His experience in the game will be invaluable to our coaching staff as well as the pitchers he’ll interact with on a daily basis.”

Angels Sign Chris Iannetta To $15.55M Contract

The Angels and Chris Iannetta have agreed upon a three-year, $15.55 million contract that will prevent the catcher from becoming a free agent.

Iannetta's previous deal contained a $5 million club option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout.

Iannetta provided solid defense and hit .240 with nine homers and 26 RBIs in 79 games.
