The Phillies have signed Chad Qualls to a one-year, $1.15 million contract. Qualls will help fill the void left behind by Brad Lidge.

Corey Patterson has signed a Minor League contract with the Brewers. The outfielder played 44 games for the Cardinals last season, batting .157 with three RBIs.

The Orioles have signed a pair of pitchers and invited them to Spring Training. Armando Galarraga and Pat Neshek were both inked to contracts. Galarraga went 3-4 in eight starts with Arizona last season. He fell one out short of a perfect game against Cleveland on June 2, 2010 with Detroit. Neshek had a 4.01 ERA in 25 relief appearances with San Diego last season.

The Cubs have signed Trever Miller to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training, according to two sources. The left-handed reliever, who turns 39 in May, had a 3.80 ERA, but a 1.74 WHIP, in 48 appearances for the Cardinals, Blue Jays and Red Sox last year.

The Astros have signed Zach Duke to a Minor League contract. Duke is a former All-Star, making the move low-risk, high-reward for Houston. The left-hander has also been invited to Spring Training.

Giants ace Tim Lincecum has passed his physical and officially signed his $40.5M, two-year contract. The two sides reached a verbal agreement on the deal on Tuesday and the Giants said Lincecum signed the contract Friday.

The Red Sox have confirmed their signing of Cody Ross. The outfielder was given a one-year, $3 million contract, as was reported earlier this week.

The Reds have agreed with free agent pitcher Jeff Francis on a minor league deal that includes an invitation to spring training camp, a baseball source said. Francis will earn a base salary of $1.5M if he makes the Reds' big league roster, the source said. The deal includes performance bonuses based on starts that could increase his total payout to $3.25M. He signed a one-year deal with Kansas City and went 6-16 with a 4.82 ERA in 31 starts last season.

The Yankees today announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Hiroki Kuroda to a one-year Major League contract. Kuroda, 36, went 13-16 with a 3.07 ERA (202.0 IP, 69 ER) in 32 starts with the Dodgers in 2011, establishing career bests in wins, ERA, games started, innings pitched and strikeouts (161). "I feel happy to be a part of such a storied franchise, which is always in contention for a World Series," Kuroda said. "I am also very proud to be a part of this current team, which boasts so many great players. As a member of the Yankees, I would like to do my part by doing the best I can throughout the season. I hope that I can make a difference in achieving the team's ultimate goal, which is to win the World Series."

Former Phillies closer Brad Lidge signed a one-year deal with the Nationals on Thursday. The contract pays him approximately $1M, plus incentives, a major league source told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark.
