The Diamondbacks have signed veteran left-hander Mike Hampton to a minor league deal, according to an ESPN.com report.
Diamondbacks GM Jerry DiPoto says Saturday Hampton will be used as a reliever even though he has spent much of his career as a starter. The oft-injured 38-year-old will be assigned to Triple-A Reno.

Helms Signs Extension With Marlins
The Marlins have signed infielder Wes Helms to a one-year contract extension.
The extension for the 2011 season is worth $1 million.
"We've been talking about it for the last week and we thought it was good time to go ahead and do it," Helms said.
"I love it here. I have a good relationship with the front office, the staff and the players. I feel comfortable here and I just didn't want to test the market this off-season and start over. I can come in to spring training and know where I'm going to be."

Dodgers Sign LSU QB Zach Lee For $5.25M Bonus
The Dodgers have signed first-round draft pick Zach Lee, a two-sport star who had already taken snaps at QB in fall practice at LSU.
The Dodgers selected Lee with the 28th overall pick in the June draft. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound right-hander has a fastball that?s been clocked in the mid-90s.
Lee received a signing bonus of $5.25M on Monday, according to an Associated Press report.
Giants Sign Top 2 Draft Picks
The San Francisco Giants have signed their first two selections in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, the club announced this evening. The Giants inked outfielder, Gary Brown, their first pick and 24th overall selection to a 2011 deal.
San Francisco also penned their second pick and the 74th overall selection in the 2010 Draft, Jarrett Parker. The Giants have come to terms with 33 players from this year's draft, including each of their first 14 selections and 18 of their top 20 picks.
Harper Signs Contract With Nationals
The Nationals have agreed to terms on a major league contract with OF Bryce Harper, 1st overall selection in 2010 First-Year Player Draft.
"If he doesn't want to play here, then we don't want him here," Strasburg said Harper in the days leading up to the deadline.
Harper is represented by agent Scott Boars.
Angels Sign First-Round Pick, Cowart
The Angels have agreed to terms with first-round pick Kaleb Cowart.
Cowart is an infielder out of Cook County High School in Adel, Georgia.
Los Angeles drafted Cowart with the 18th overall pick in June's First-Year Player Draft.
Red Sox Sign Delgado To Minor League Deal
The Red Sox have signed free agent Carlos Delgado to a minor league deal, according to an ESPN.com report on Saturday.
Delgado will begin at Triple-A Pawtucket in order to work himself back into playing condition before potentially joining the big league team in a few weeks. He has been out the whole season after twice undergoing surgery to repair a hip injury.
Chad Tracy Signs With Florida
The Marlins signed Chad Tracy on Thursday.
Tracy appeared in 28 games for the Cubs this season. Tracy adds another left-handed bat to the lineup.
To make room for Tracy, outfielder Bryan Petersen was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans.
Brewers Sign Corey Hart To Extension
The Brewers have signed outfielder Corey Hart to a contract extension through the 2013 season, according to an Associated Press report.
Hart, who has been the subject of frequent trade speculation in recent weeks, now appears to have a long-term future with the Brewers.
