A's Sign Tomko, Jennings To Deals
The Athletics have signed veteran right-handers Jason Jennings and Brett Tomko to Minor League contracts.
Jennings owns a 62-74 lifetime record and 4.95 ERA in 225 games, including 180 starts, in nine big league seasons.
Tomko's career line includes a 100-102 mark and 4.65 ERA in 389 games (266 starts) over 13 Major League seasons.
Nationals Sign Livan Hernandez
The Nationals signed veteran pitcher Livan Hernandez to a minor league deal on Wednesday.
Hernandez will be in camp Friday and becomes a candidate for a spot at the back end of the rotation.
Branyan Officially Returns To Indians
The Indians have completed a one-year deal with Russell Branyan.
The two sides reached a preliminary agreement last week that was contingent on a physical.
Branyan set career highs with 31 home runs and 76 RBIs for Seattle last season.
Mets Finalize Deal With Barajas
The Mets have finalized their contract agreement with catcher Rod Barajas.
Barajas will make $500,000 under a one-year deal with New York.
The veteran catcher didn't anticipate having to wait so long for a contract.
"It was tough," Barajas said. "Going into this offseason, if you had told me that I wouldn't sign until camp had started I would say, 'You're crazy.' It was a little nerve-racking. I just wanted to be a part of a team and start preparing myself and get out to wherever I needed to go and get ready for baseball."
Atlanta Signs Shortstop Salcedo
The Braves have signed shortstop Edward Salcedo, 18, of the Dominican Republic to a minor-league contract.
Atlanta says they regard Salcedo as a first-round talent who is projected as a strong offensive and defensive player.
Tigers, Damon Finalize One-Year Deal
The Tigers finalized their one-year deal with outfielder Johnny Damon on Monday.
"This is where I wanted to be," Damon said after completing his $8 million contract. "The Tigers were my first choice. I love it here and think I am a good fit."
When it was apparent that the Yankees wouldn't re-sign him, Damon was courted by the Braves, Tigers and White Sox.
"The Tigers are a scary team and the fact that this team has gotten even younger makes it a lot more fun," he said.
Blue Jays Sign Jose Molina
The Blue Jays have signed catcher Jose Molina to a one-year contract worth the $400,000 minimum.
The contract includes performance bonuses and a $1.2 million team option for 2011.
Nationals Finalize Deal With Wang
The Nationals have finalized their one-year, $2 million contract agreement with pitcher Chien-Ming Wang.
The deal includes the chance to earn $3 million in performance bonuses.
He is not expected to be able to pitch until sometime between April and June as he recovers from shoulder surgery.
"We don't have a date where we're saying that this is when we want him to come back and pitch," Nationals manager Jim Riggleman said. "He's going to come back and pitch when he's ready."
Yankees Invite Five To Spring Training
The New York Yankees announced Tuesday that they have invited five additional players to Major League spring training.
New York invited infielders Brandon Laird and Jorge Vazquez and pitchers D.J. Mitchell, Dustin Moseley and Ryan Pope.
The club has now invited 25 non-roster players to 2010 Spring Training in Tampa, Fla., including 13 pitchers, five catchers, two infielders and five outfielders. The total number of players now scheduled to report is 65.
Rangers Sign Endy Chavez
The Rangers have signed free-agent outfielder Endy Chavez to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training.
Chavez, 32, played 54 games with Seattle last season before suffering a torn ACL in his right knee in June.
He batted .273 with two home runs, 13 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
