Astros GM: Justin Verlander 'Looks Like Himself'

Nov 10, 2021 8:41 AM

Justin Verlander looked really good during a showcase for scouts on Monday, according to Houston Astros general manager James Click.

Click said that Verlander "looks like himself" 13 months after having Tommy John surgery.

"We've kept a close eye on him," Click said. "He's been great about letting us know when he's going to be throwing so we can get in there and get an eye on him, see how he's doing. The videos I've seen have been awesome."

As many as 20 Major League clubs took in Verlander's showcase.

The Astros extended Verlander the one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer. He has until November 17 to accept or decline it.
