Yankees Place Youkilis On DL

Sep 20, 2014 3:46 AM

The New York Yankees have placed Kevin Youkilis on the disabled list with a lumbar spine sprain.

Youkilis had missed eight of New York's past nine games with the persistent back issue.

"It was just one of those things waking up, and I didn't feel right," Youkilis said. "Sometimes, after your adrenaline's gone, things occur to you. We've just got to find out what's going on."

Strasburg Dealing With Forearm Tightness

Oct 31, 2014 7:23 PM

Stephen Strasburg insists he won't miss his next start, but the Washington Nationals right-hander is dealing with tightness in his forearm.

He was examined by a doctor after his start against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.

"I think he's got a little tightness in his forearm," Washington manager Davey Johnson said. "So they're going to put him on some medication."

Johnson said the hard-thrower will have to show he is ready to make his next scheduled start.

Strasburg insisted he won't miss a start.

"I'm not missing my next start," he said. "I'll tell you that right now."

Strasburg had lost a career-worst four straight starts before pitching six innings and getting a no-decision. He is 1-4 with a 3.13 ERA.

Romine is hitting .333/.391/.405 with a home run in 42 minor league at-bats this season.

Gavin Floyd Strains Elbow Muscle

Sep 28, 2014 5:20 AM

Chicago White Sox right-hander Gavin Floyd left Saturday night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays in the third inning with a flexor muscle strain in his right elbow.

The 30-year-old was placed on the disabled list twice in 2012 with elbow soreness. The second trip was for a right flexor muscle strain.

"He has a strain right now. At least that is what we have it as, a muscle toward his elbow," Robin Ventura said. "It is looking more like a DL stint. It is kind of like he had last year. The hits just keep coming. We just have to find a way to keep going."

Hanley Ramirez To Begin Rehab, Could Return Tuesday

Jul 5, 2014 5:59 PM

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez will begin a minor league rehabilitation assignment Saturday and could rejoin the team as early as Tuesday.

When Ramirez had surgery March 22 to repair a torn tendon in his right thumb, doctors predicted he would be out roughly eight weeks.

He has said that he plans to come back much earlier.

Ramirez's return has been helped by a flexible splint that allows him to hit and make throws without further injuring his thumb.
