Strasburg Leaves With Apparent Injury

Stephen Strasburg left Friday night's start against the Braves after two innings because of an apparent injury.

Strasburg grimaced after throwing a changeup to Brian McCann with one out in the second inning. He retired McCann on a grounder and struck out Dan Uggla to end the inning.

The exact nature of his injury isn't yet known.

Teixeira, Youkilis Return To Yankees

The Yankees activated Mark Teixeira and Kevin Youkilis for Friday night's game against the Red Sox.

Teixeira was in the lineup for the first time this season after tearing the ECU sheath in his right wrist during spring training.

Youkilis has played in just one game since April 20 because of his lumbar sprain.

Harper Hopes To Return To Face Braves

Bryce Harper, who has missed Washington's last four games with left knee soreness, hopes to be in the lineup on Friday against Atlanta.

"Bryce hit yesterday and was going to try to do a little more today," Davey Johnson said before the Nationals played the Orioles on Thursday.

Harper says the swelling in the knee still has not subsided and that it "feels about the same."

Hamstring Lands Kemp On DL

The Dodgers have placed Matt Kemp on the disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

The club is hoping that the strain in mild, but Kemp missed 51 games with a left hamstring injury last season.

"I don't want to be in the same situation where I come back, hurt it again and sit out another month," Kemp said. "That's just not what I want to happen this year, so just kind of get it better now and, you know, be better."

Mets Place Ruben Tejada On DL

The Mets have placed Ruben Tejada on the disabled list with a right quadriceps strain.

Tejada suffered the injury pursuing a foul ball during the ninth inning of Wednesday's Subway Series game at Yankee Stadium.

The 23-year-old is batting .209 with 10 RBIs in 187 at-bats this season. He also has shown lapses at shortstop.

Red Sox: Pedroia's Thumb Is Fully Healed

The Red Sox believe that Dustin Pedroia is "100 percent" recovered from the thumb injury he suffered on Opening Day.

Pedroia suffered a complete tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb April 1 while making a head-first slide into first base.

Despite the injury, he has started all 53 games for the Red Sox this season, more than any player in the big leagues.

Kemp Scheduled For MRI On Hamstring

Matt Kemp left Wednesday night's game with a strained right hamstring and may be headed for the disabled list.

Kemp injured himself chasing a double by Mike Trout in the seventh inning and called out for a trainer before walking off the field.

Kemp missed 51 games with injuries to his left hamstring last season then underwent left shoulder surgery in October.

Jeter Takes Field, Plays Catch

Derek Jeter took the field and played a light game of catch with a New York Yankees staffer on Wednesday, another step in his return from a fractured ankle.

It was the first time Jeter was in uniform and on the field working out since he suffered the injury in Game 1 of the ALCS against the Tigers last October.

Jeter said he will be examined by the doctor who performed surgery to repair the original break last October "in the next week and a half,'' and hopes to be cleared to increase the intensity of his workouts.

There is no timetable for Jeter's return.

Cubs Lose Fujikawa To Tommy John Surgery

The Cubs have lost Kyuji Fujikawa for the season after an MRI revealed that he will require Tommy John surgery.

"It's the first big injury of my career," Fujikawa said. "I'm trying to look forward and trying to come back strong."

Fujikawa compiled a 12.46 ERA in five games in April before going on the DL April 13-May 10 because of a strained right forearm. When he returned, he looked much sharper and had given up one earned run over 7 2/3 innings in seven games for a 1.17 ERA.
