The Yankees are ready to send Mark Teixeira and Kevin Youkilis out on rehab assignments.

The pair could be activated as early as this weekend's series against the Red Sox.

After playing in an extended spring training game on Tuesday, Teixeira and Youkilis are headed to Double-A Trenton.

They will both play two games with Double-A Trenton before the Yankees decide whether they are ready to return to the big leagues.

Teixeira is on the 60-day disabled list with a torn tendon sheath in his right wrist, while Youkilis has been out since April 28 with a lower back sprain.
