Clayton Kershaw Hopes To Make Next Start Despite 'Cranky' Shoulder

Jun 30, 2023 9:54 AM

Clayton Kershaw is dealing with a "cranky" pitching shoulder and remains optimistic he'll be able to make his next start for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Kershaw said that he felt some tenderness in his left shoulder during his last outing Tuesday at the Colorado Rockies.

He carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and left the game after 79 pitches and one hit allowed in an eventual 5-0 win. Kershaw, 35, said he underwent a medical exam on Wednesday and was given a shot to relieve inflammation.

"So somewhat optimistic that it should be good to hopefully not miss a start," said Kershaw, who leads the Dodgers with a 2.55 ERA and 105 strikeouts. "With the All-Star break coming up, we have some time to potentially shift things around, so we'll see. But as of now, I'm kind of on the same day-to-day basis."

Aaron Judge Has Torn Toe Ligament

Jun 24, 2023 4:47 PM

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge said Saturday he has a torn ligament in his right big toe and is experiencing pain when he walks.

When the Yankees placed Judge on the injured list June 6, the team said he was dealing with a contusion and a sprained ligament in his right big toe. There remains no timetable for the return of the reigning American League MVP.

"I've got to knock out the rehab stuff," Judge said. "I've had different injuries over the years where it's going to take a while. It's not going to be perfect here in a couple of weeks. Once we can manage the pain, we're going to be in a good spot."

Angels' Gio Urshela Likely Out For Season

Jun 22, 2023 8:20 AM

Los Angeles Angels infielder Gio Urshela is likely to miss the rest of the season with a broken pelvis.

Urshela was enjoying a solid debut season for the Angels before he fell awkwardly at first base while trying to beat out his grounder on June 15 at the Texas Rangers.

The Colombian veteran has seen two specialists to determine he won't need surgery, but the rest and recovery time necessary to heal are likely to prevent him from playing again in 2023.
