Lance McCullers, Jr. will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his injured right forearm.

The Houston Astros announced that McCullers had surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his pitching arm and to remove a lima bean-sized bone spur.

"The decision was made to have surgery, and talking with Lance, he's feeling a lot better right now about things and his future," Dana Brown said.

McCullers, 29, who did not pitch in a game this season, originally injured the flexor tendon during the 2021 American League Division Series and aggravated the injury during a spring training bullpen session in February.
