Troy Tulowitzki Will Have Surgery Monday

Apr 1, 2018 1:35 AM

Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will have surgery Monday to remove bone spurs from both heels and is expected to miss eight weeks, general manager Ross Atkins said Friday.

The bone spurs have bothered Tulowitzki during his recovery from surgery to repair the ligament damage suffered when he stepped on C.J. Cron's foot while trying to beat out an infield hit in a game last July against the Angels.

Madison Bumgarner Undergoes Surgery On Broken Pinkie

Mar 25, 2018 2:19 PM

Giants ace Madison Bumgarner is expected to miss at least the first two months of the season after undergoing surgery Saturday to have three pins inserted into the broken pinkie on his pitching hand.

The 28-year-old lefty was injured Friday when he was hit by a line drive off the bat of Kansas City's Whit Merrifield in a spring training game. The outing was supposed to be the final tuneup for Bumgarner before he started on Opening Day.

"We're looking at a couple months, give or take," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said before San Francisco's exhibition game against its Triple-A club in Sacramento. "It's going to take a while. I guess the good news we got this morning is they really felt good about the surgery."

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without Justin Turner for a while after he broke his left wrist during a spring game on Monday.

Turner was hit by a pitch thrown by the Oakland Athletics' Kendall Graveman.

"I was hoping obviously the X-rays would be negative, but there's a small non-displaced fracture," he said. "We'll just play it by ear, see how it goes."

Farhan Zaidi said the team didn't know yet how long Turner would be out, but it should be a matter of at least a few weeks.
