The Tampa Bay Rays have announced that Jose De Leon has a torn right ulnar collateral ligament.

De Leon, 25, was examined by Dr. James Andrews.

He is the Rays' second top prospect to suffer a major elbow injury this spring training. Brent Honeywell had Tommy John surgery on Feb. 28.

De Leon made 10 Minor League appearances last season and spent three stints on the disabled list due to discomfort in the flexor mass muscle, a strained lat muscle and forearm tendinitis, and back tightness.
