Aaron Judge Headed To DL With Fractured Wrist

Jul 27, 2018 8:39 AM

Aaron Judge suffered a chip fracture in his right wrist and the New York Yankees will place him on the disabled list.

He is expected to miss three weeks.

Judge underwent an MRI and CT scan at New York Presbyterian Hospital. The Yankees said he won't need surgery.

"I'm concerned anytime our players have to leave the game with something, and obviously Judgey is so important," Aaron Boone said.

Kris Bryant Dealing With Continued Left Shoulder Soreness

Jul 25, 2018 7:09 AM

Kris Bryant was out of the lineup on Tuesday night due to continued soreness in his left shoulder.

The Chicago Cubs also expect Bryant to sit on Wednesday, but another stint on the disabled list is unlikely.

"Rest is the best thing for him right now, but we're not necessarily ready to do that," Joe Maddon said.

Bryant, who originally hurt his shoulder on a slide and did not play between June 22 and July 11, aggravated his shoulder on a swing Monday night.

Manny Machado Will Play Third After Dodgers Place Justin Turner On DL

Jul 24, 2018 7:42 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed Justin Turner on the disabled list with a right groin injury.

Manny Machado will move from shortstop to third base until Turner returns to the field. He has made all 99 of his starts this season at short, but he won Gold Gloves at third in 2013 and 2015 with the Baltimore Orioles.

"It just made sense to do it, with where we were and what he could give us," Dave Roberts said. "When you lose a player of J.T.'s caliber, [it hurts]. But to replace him with Manny and not compromise your defense, it's big for us.

"First and foremost, Manny was traded here to be a shortstop. We understand that. But the conversation I had with Manny last night was easy and one that I anticipated. He wanted to do whatever it was to help the ballclub and help us win. I know he sees himself as a shortstop, as do we. But with Justin on the DL, it makes a lot of sense for him to play third. I can't say enough about Manny and his willingness to do whatever we need for the ballclub."

Mets Place Noah Syndergaard On DL

Jul 23, 2018 8:17 AM

Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard is going on the 10-day disabled list after recently exhibiting symptoms of hand, foot and mouth disease, a viral illness that normally affects children younger than 5 years old.

As bizarre as the injury is, team officials don't believe the DL stint will last long. Scheduled now to miss his next start Wednesday, Syndergaard could be back for his following turn in the rotation.

"Sounds like once the blisters and everything -- or whatever he's got going on on his hands -- clears up, he's going to be fine," Mets manager Mickey Callaway said Sunday.

Jul 22, 2018 2:09 AM

Mets manager Mickey Callaway said he was unaware of comments made Friday by injury-plagued slugger Yoenis Cespedes, who revealed that he may need surgery on both heels that would sideline him for eight to 10 months.

Cespedes was not in the lineup against the Yankees on Saturday afternoon, one day after he returned from an extended stay on the disabled list.

Shohei Ohtani Cleared To Resume Throwing

Jul 20, 2018 8:02 AM

Shohei Ohtani has been cleared to resume throwing as he hopes to avoid Tommy John surgery.

The Los Angeles Angels said in a statement that Ohtani's six-week re-evaluation revealed that his ulnar collateral ligament "continues to show improved healing."

He has an .887 OPS in 157 plate appearances and a 3.10 ERA in 49 1/3 innings as a rookie.
