Report: 'Majority Of Players' Don't Want Trevor Bauer Back On Dodgers

Jul 26, 2021 9:55 AM

A number of players don't want Trevor Bauer to return to the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to a report.

Bauer's paid administrative leave from the Dodgers, which the club has previously extended twice, runs through Tuesday.

In late June, news surfaced of an ex parte temporary restraining order a San Diego woman obtained against Bauer after she alleged sexual assault.

"A majority of players do not want [Trevor] Bauer back under any circumstances," writes Mike DiGiovanna of the L.A. Times, who cited "two people with knowledge of Dodgers clubhouse dynamics."

Mike Trout Has Setback In Return From Calf Injury

Jul 26, 2021 9:51 AM

Mike Trout has had a setback in his return from a calf strain.

On July 19th, Trout said he was "really, really close" to beginning a rehab assignment.

One week later, that rehab assignment still hasn't begun because he still "feels something," Los Angeles Angels manager Joe Maddon said. "He just feels it a little bit in that area, when he really tries to move quickly."

Trout has played in just 36 games this season due to the injury.

Rangers Lose 12th Straight, Worst Skid Since 1982

Jul 26, 2021 9:46 AM

The Texas Rangers lost 3-1 to the Houston Astros on Sunday, extending their losing streak to 12 games.

The skid is tied for the second-longest such streak in team history and the first time they've lost a dozen straight since 1982.

The Texas record is 15 consecutive losses in September 1972.

"The players are taking accountability to this," Chris Woodward said. "You can tell they are frustrated. Our staff has never wavered. ... It's gut-wrenching. I mean, it really is. It's the toughest situation I've been a part of, and I know a lot of these guys can say the same thing.

"We cannot stop. We cannot stop fighting. We cannot stop believing that we are going to get out of this, because there is no help. You can't expect things to turn on a dime."

Cleveland Changing Team Name To Guardians

Jul 23, 2021 11:40 AM

Cleveland's Major League Baseball team will be known as the Guardians after the 2021 season.

The club announced the name change Friday with a video on Twitter narrated by actor Tom Hanks.

The organization spent most of the past year whittling down a list of potential names that was at nearly 1,200 just over a month ago.

Owner Paul Dolan said last summer's social unrest, touched off by the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, spurred his intention to change the club's name.
