Report: Justin Bour To Play With Hanshin Tigers In Japan

Justin Bour has reached an agreement with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball league, Tigers GM Osamu Tanimoto told the Japan Times on Thursday.

The Angels signed the 31-year-old Bour to a one-year, $2.5 million contract for the 2019 season, but he struggled with Los Angeles, batting .172/.259/.364 with eight home runs across 52 games.

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired infielder Luis Urias and left-hander Eric Lauer from the San Diego Padres for outfielder Trent Grisham and right-hander Zach Davies in a swap of high-end prospects and veteran pitchers on Wednesday.

This wasn't the only move for the Padres on Wednesday. They also reached agreement on an expected four-year deal with left-handed reliever Drew Pomeranz, pending a physical, sources confirmed.

Pirates Hire Derek Shelton As New Manager

The Pirates completed their leadership makeover Wednesday, hiring Derek Shelton to be their new manager.

Shelton had spent the past two seasons as the Twins' bench coach. His previous stops include a season as the quality control coach for the Blue Jays in 2017 and seven years as a hitting coach with the Rays. Shelton broke into the majors as hitting coach for the Indians from 2005 to 2009, and he has managed in the Yankees' minor league system.

Marcus Semien Wants Long-Term Deal From Athletics

Coming off a career-best season, Marcus Semien is hoping to receive a long-term deal from the Oakland Athletics.

Semien finished third in American League MVP voting after posting career-highs in batting average (.285), on-base percentage (.369), slugging percentage (.522), OPS+ (138), doubles (43), homers (33), walks (87), total bases (343), and WAR (8.1).

The 29-year-old is projected to make roughly $14 million in arbitration next season. He can become a free agent after the 2020 season.

Semien has told the A's that he wants to long-term deal from the franchise.
