Morales Cleared To Resume Baseball Activities
Angels first baseman Kendrys Morales resumed baseball activities Tuesday after experiencing no setbacks following a batting practice session the day prior.
Morales, who will start the season on the disabled list as he recovers from surgery on his lower left leg, was examined by a doctor Tuesday morning.
"We had no surprises," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "The next step for him is running on the ankle and taking ground balls."
Brian Wilson To Open Season On DL
A decision has finally been made, Giants closer Brian Wilson isn't yet healthy enough to pitch.
He will start the season on the disabled list with a strained oblique muscle on his left side.
Wilson, who has been dealing with tightness in his back, underwent a successful bullpen session on Tuesday, marking the first time he has thrown off a mound in nearly two weeks.
"He felt great today," manager Bruce Bochy said. "I'm very encouraged with his progress, and we'll decide tomorrow his next move. I don't think he'll start the season with us, but it's good to see him feeling good, and he's letting it go."
San Francisco can backdate his stint on the DL, meaning he won't have to miss the first 15 days of the regular season.
Granderson Still Hopeful For Opener
Curtis Granderson is still hopeful that he'll be ready to play when the Yankees open their 2011 season against the Tigers on Thursday.
"Everything feels good," Granderson said after taking "six or seven" at-bats in a simulated game.
The outfielder has been sidelined for a week by a strained internal oblique on the right side of his abdomen and had not swung a bat against live pitching since the injury.
"Faced lefties, righties, everything felt good," Granderson said. "Swings and misses, check swings, all good. So I'm even more excited about tomorrow, and if everything's good, I'll get out of there Wednesday night."
If Granderson can't go, then Brett Gardner becomes the starting center fielder.

Duchscherer Placed On DL By Orioles
The Orioles have placed right-hander Justin Duchscherer on the 15-day disabled list and cut three players to reduce their roster to the 25-man limit.

Player cuts included backup catcher Craig Tatum and pitcher Zach Britton, who were optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
Bay Could Begin Season On DL
Mets outfielder Jason Bay may begin the season on the disabled list with a strained intercostal muscle in his left rib cage.
Bay was scratched from Tuesday's Grapefruit League game.
New York general manager Sandy Alderson said a DL decision could wait until shortly before the Thursday 11 a.m. ET deadline.
"We will have a move or two that we don't make until the very end," Alderson said.
Giants Unlikely To Have Wilson On Opening Day
Giants closer Brian Wilson isn't expected to be ready to pitch by Opening Day.
San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said Monday that Wilson's chances of playing when the regular season begins are "less than 50-50."
A final decision won't be made until after Wilson throws a light bullpen session in Arizona on Tuesday.
"I'll be honest. I think he's less than 50-50," Bochy said. "But we're not going to rule him out completely."
Wilson strained a muscle on his left side on March 17 and also missed time early in spring training with back tightness.
Padres To Place Latos On 15-Day DL
Padres right-hander Mat Latos will begin the season on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right shoulder.
