MLB Toughens Drug Rules

Dec 8, 2014 1:17 PM

Baseball players suspended during the season for a PED violation will not be eligible for that year's postseason under changes to the sport's drug agreement announced Friday.

In the most significant toughening to the drug rules in eight years, Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association said the penalty will increase from 50 games to 80 for a first testing violation and from 100 games to a season-long 162 for a second. A third violation remains a lifetime ban.

Arruebarrena Joins Dodgers After Getting Visa

Oct 31, 2014 3:04 PM

Cuban shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena has secured a visa and joined the Los Angeles Dodgers nearly three weeks after signing a five-year, $25 million contract.

The 23-year-old spent Thursday morning meeting many of his new teammates.

Arruebarrena has a reputation for being a slick fielder, but his bat is more of a question mark. He batted .276 with 67 doubles, 27 home runs and 171 RBIs in 437 games in the Cuban Serie Nacional.

StubHub Penalizing Brokers That Relisted Jeter Tickets

Sep 26, 2014 7:24 PM

StubHub is holding brokers accountable that didn't follow through with tickets sold in the hours after Derek Jeter announced his retirement.

The company has informed those who sold tickets, but then relisted them to try to get a higher price, that they now have the choice of honoring the original sale or they can keep the current listing, but Stubhub will find tickets at the current market price for the original buyer and charge the broker's credit card.

Those who already sold the ticket at a relisted price also will have to pay Stubhub a fee to provide tickets to the original buyer for the game they had purchased.
