Cubs Sue Over Fake Mascot Costume

Sep 23, 2014 7:40 AM

The Cubs have filed a lawsuit against several people whom the team accuses of being behind a fake mascot that has been engaging in bad behavior near Wrigley Field, including getting into a bar fight that was captured on video and posted online.

The team filed its lawsuit on Friday in federal court in Chicago against John Paul Weier, Patrick Weier and three other unnamed individuals whom the team says dress in the bear costume, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The fake mascot, not to be confused with the team's new official mascot, "Clark the Cub," wears a Cubs hat and number 78 jersey that has the name "Billy Cub" on the back.

A's Agree To Extension At Coliseum Through 2024

Oct 31, 2014 3:43 PM

The A's and the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority have agreed on a 10-year lease extension to keep the club at the Coliseum through the 2024 season.

The agreement, announced Thursday morning following a 14-month negotiation period, will be finalized later this month once it's approved by the Oakland City Council and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.

"After much diligence and cooperation from both parties, we are delighted to make this announcement today," A's owner Lew Wolff said in a statement released by the club. "We believe this agreement works well for city and county taxpayers, the team, A's fans and all involved. It provides stability for the A's, while also improving fan and player experience with significant upgrades and improvements at the facility."
