Yasiel Puig has had a reckless driving charge against him dropped.

Puig, 23, was arrested and charged with reckless driving last month for allegedly driving 110 mph in a 70 mph zone in Florida.

The state attorney's office dropped that charge due to a lack of sufficient evidence in the case.

Seeking Overturn Of Ban, Rodriguez Sues MLB, Union

Oct 16, 2014 4:23 AM

Alex Rodriguez has filed a lawsuit against Major League Baseball and the MLBPA as he continues to fight his performance-enhancing drug-related suspension.

Rodriguez, who was suspended for the full 162-game season, claims alleging arbitrator Fredric Horowitz was biased in his ruling.

The lawsuit seeks to vacate Horowitz's ruling, based on the arbitrator's "manifest disregard for the law,'' his "evident partiality,'' and refusal "to entertain evidence that was pertinent and material to the outcome."

MLBPA Mulling Legal Options Over TV Appearances

Aug 6, 2014 7:29 PM

The Major League Baseball Players' Association has released a statement saying that it is considering legal options amidst Tony Bosch and Rob Manfred's appearance on 60 Minutes Sunday night.

"After learning of tonight's 60 Minutes segment, Players have expressed anger over, among other things, MLB's inability to let the result of yesterday's decision speak for itself," the statement said.

The news of Bosch and Manfred's interviews comes a day after the decision to reduce Alex Rodriguez's suspension to 162 games. Although the suspension was reduced from 211 games, the decision was still widely considered to be a victory for Major League Baseball.

Former Yankee, War Pilot Jerry Coleman Dies At 89

Oct 11, 2014 10:55 AM

Commissioner Bud Selig issued the following statement regarding the passing of 2005 Ford C. Frick Award-winning broadcaster and former Yankees second baseman Jerry Coleman, who was 89:

"Jerry Coleman was a hero and a role model to myself and countless others in the game of Baseball.  He had a memorable, multifaceted career in the National Pastime - as an All-Star during the great Yankees' dynasty from 1949-1953, a manager and, for more than a half-century, a beloved broadcaster, including as an exemplary ambassador for the San Diego Padres.  But above all, Jerry's decorated service to our country in both World War II and Korea made him an integral part of the Greatest Generation.  He was a true friend whose counsel I valued greatly.

"Major League Baseball began its support of Welcome Back Veterans to honor the vibrant legacy of heroes like Jerry Coleman.  Our entire sport mourns the loss of this fine gentleman, and I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, fans of the Padres and the Yankees, and his many admirers in Baseball and beyond."
