Justin Verlander Resumes Throwing After Groin Surgery

Apr 16, 2020 11:43 AM

Justin Verlander has resumed throwing as he recovers from March groin surgery.

Dusty Baker says that Verlander, who had surgery on March 17, is "doing great" and is throwing as he continues his rehabilitation.

The Houston Astros right-hander dealt with the problem early in spring training.

Now that the start of the season has been delayed because of the coronavirus, it makes it much more likely that Verlander will be ready when the season begins.

Shohei Ohtani Will 'Soon' Start Throwing From Mound

Apr 8, 2020 9:03 AM

Shohei Ohtani will "soon" begin throwing from a mound as he continues to make his way back from Tommy John surgery.

The Los Angeles Angels' two-way star has already been throwing long toss.

Ohtani hasn't pitched in a regular season game since 2018, when he tore his ulnar collateral ligament. He started 10 games, compiling a 3.31 ERA and 2.86 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 51 innings.
