Rays' Prospect Brent Honeywell Has Elbow Procedure

May 22, 2020 8:38 AM

Tampa Bay Rays prospect Brent Honeywell had a decompression procedure on his right ulnar nerve on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old right-hander is already set to begin strength and mobility exercises.

Honeywell hasn't pitched in the minors since September 2017. He missed the following season after Tommy John surgery during spring training. He sat out 2019 after an operation last June to repair a right elbow fracture.

Yankees Didn't Expect Aaron Judge Back Until Summer

May 15, 2020 9:16 AM

The New York Yankees will have Aaron Judge back if they return to play this season.

During a video call on Thursday, Brian Cashman revealed that the Yankees never expected Judge to be ready before the summer.

"Ultimately, the broken rib that Aaron Judge suffered, it's in an area that the blood flow to that region is more difficult," Cashman said of the rib injury -- as well as the subsequent punctured lung -- that Judge has attributed to an attempted catch Sept. 18 against the Angels at Yankee Stadium.

"Blood flow is a significant part of the healing, so that's why the time frame is longer. When it happened, I always felt that we wouldn't see Judge more likely until the summertime."

Aaron Judge To Undergo Another Scan On Injured Rib

May 8, 2020 7:52 AM

Aaron Judge will undergo another CT scan on his injured rib later this month, but Aaron Boone is encouraged by the outfielder's recovery.

Boone admitted that baseball's shutdown amid the coronavirus pandemic has provided Judge and other injured New York Yankees some downtime to get back to full health.

"Obviously, everyone kind of mentions a silver lining with us," he said. "I think that's very much true."

Judge was diagnosed with a fractured rib in March -- an injury he originally suffered last September.
