Aaron Judge Also Dealt With Collapsed Lung

Mar 23, 2020 8:41 AM

Aaron Judge says his fractured rib is improving, but revealed to reporters that he also dealt with a partially collapsed lung.

Two weeks ago, Aaron Boone said the rib injury was why Judge had been suffering tightness in his shoulder and pectoral area, which limited his baseball activities since early February.

The New York Yankees never disclosed the injury, but Judge said a CT scan Friday the lung had fully healed.

"The pneumothorax came back completely gone, which a good thing," Judge said. "Good to go, which means I can fly if I needed to go home. A little thing on the lung that we were having a little issue with, but that was all healed up. ... The bone is healing the way it should be."

Judge said he would have another test in a few weeks "and go from there."

Chris Sale Opts To Have Tommy John Surgery

Mar 20, 2020 8:48 AM

The Boston Red Sox have announced that Chris Sale will undergo Tommy John surgery.

Sale chose to undergo the procedure now out of fear that delaying it could have caused him to miss significant time in the 2021 season, according to sources.

The coronavirus-induced delay to the start of the Major League Baseball season was not a direct cause of Sale deciding to undergo the surgery.

Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton Could Be Ready For Delayed Opener

Mar 17, 2020 8:23 AM

The New York Yankees were beset by injuries this spring, but Major League Baseball's delayed opening to the 2020 season might help them get back to full strength.

Aaron Boone said on MLB Network Radio that James Paxton, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton could be ready for Opening Day, whenever it occurs.

MLB released a statement on Monday saying that the season will begin no earlier than mid-May.

Paxton had back surgery in February and his initial timetable indicated a June return.

Stanton and Judge are dealing with calf and rib injuries, respectively.
