The Colorado Rockies ended an eight-game losing streak as Brenton Doyle hit a tiebreaking home run off reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale in the third inning of a 2-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.
Colorado had lost 16 of its previous 17 games and had been outscored by 78 runs. At 5-25, the Rockies avoided joining the 1988 Baltimore Orioles as the only teams since 1901 to lose at least 26 of their first 30 games.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout left Wednesday's game at Seattle with an apparent injury.
Although the Angels have not provided an update, Trout was taken out of the game ahead of his at-bat in the fourth inning. He was replaced by pinch hitter Jo Adell.
Miami Marlins outfielder Griffin Conine is expected to miss the rest of the season after he underwent shoulder surgery in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
"Griffin was playing so well and a key cog for us, an important piece," Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Wednesday. "Surgery was successful, and everything should be on track for Griffin to get through his rehab and be a full-go come spring training."

The Mets could be without left-hander A.J. Minter, one of their top relievers, for the remainder of the season, manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday.
Mendoza said Minter, after seeking multiple opinions, is contemplating season-ending surgery to repair his left lat. The other option for Minter is rest and rehab, which would open the door for him to return this season after missing an extended period.
Mendoza said he expects Minter, who was placed on the injured list Sunday, to decide in the next day or two.
