Braves Reach 100 Wins For Second Straight Season

Sep 25, 2023 8:18 AM

The Atlanta Braves earned their 100th victory of the season Sunday night by defeating the Washington Nationals 8-5.

Atlanta has won 100 games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2002-03.

"It's unbelievable," Brian Snitker said. "It's hard to do. I think it's quite an accomplishment anytime you can win 100 games. A lot of things we're doing are really hard. It's taken the whole room in there, that's for sure, to make something like that happen."

Yankees Miss Playoffs For First Time Since 2016

Sep 25, 2023 12:27 AM

The end has officially arrived for this year's New York Yankees.

While a bevy of key injuries and a season's worth of offensive struggles long made it seem that their run of six straight postseason appearances was likely going to be halted, that conclusion mercifully and officially arrived on a Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Under a steady, relentless rainfall and amid powerful, gusty winds brought on by nearby Tropical Storm Ophelia, the Yankees lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-1, falling out of contention for the final wild-card spot.

He said he didn't even realize it until someone told him in the dugout.

"I had no idea," he said. "I was like, 'well, dang,'"

Foley and Lange finished what Manning started, and the Tigers no-hit the Toronto Blue Jays in a 2-0 win on Saturday.
