Angels Honor Tyler Skaggs With No-Hitter

Jul 13, 2019 1:21 AM

The Angels honored their late teammate, Tyler Skaggs, in the best way possible Friday night. They all wore his No. 45 jersey onto the field, played a video montage on the giant video board, brought his mother out to the pitcher's mound, then put together one of the most impressive, inspired performances of the 2019 season.

Two pitchers, Taylor Cole and Felix Pena, teamed up to no-hit the Mariners in a 13-0 victory at Angel Stadium in the Angels' first home game since Skaggs died in his hotel room in Texas on July 1. Cole worked two perfect innings to open the game and Pena dominated through the final seven, allowing just one fifth-inning walk.

Yankees Beat Red Sox 17-13 In London

Jun 29, 2019 6:20 PM

Apparently, there was only one way the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox felt they could introduce baseball to the United Kingdom: with runs -- plenty of them.

It took both teams very little time to flex their offensive power Saturday, plating a combined 12 runs by the end of the opening inning of this weekend's two-game series at London Stadium. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it's the first time in the history of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry that both teams have scored six runs in the first inning of a series game.

Nearly five hours later, when it was all over, the Yankees had held on for a 17-13 victory in a game that featured 30 hits and no errors.

Judge, Gardner: Yankees Will Break Team HR Record

Mar 3, 2019 8:56 PM

On the same afternoon Aaron Judge and Brett Gardner each hit two home runs in a Yankees spring training win, the outfielders co-signed on a bold prediction for this season.

Six months after the 2018 Yankees set major league baseball's single-season team home run record, Judge and Gardner foresee the 2019 Yankees shattering that historic mark.

"We're going to hit more this year," Gardner said Sunday.
