Brewers Trading Ryan Braun 'Becoming More Realistic' Possibility

May 2, 2016 12:02 AM

The idea of the Milwaukee Brewers trading away Ryan Braun to begin rebuilding "is becoming more realistic," according to Ken Rosenthal.

Braun can veto a trade to all teams except the Dodgers, Angels, Marlins, Rays and Nationals.

Braun is now 32 and he has four years and $76 million remaining on his contract after this season.

Rosenthal believes it would make sense for Braun to be traded to the Angels but they have a lack of quality prospects.

Cardinals Gathering Information On Civil Suit Against Carlos Martinez

Apr 30, 2016 7:12 PM

Carlos Martinez received permission to leave the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday in order to attend to a personal matter that arose after a civil lawsuit was filed against him in South Florida, general manager John Mozeliak said.

"We are just learning of this matter. I was notified by Carlos' agent the other night," Mozeliak said Saturday. "We will not be in a position to act until we have more information."

The lawsuit, filed in a Miami district court, will not affect Martinez's ability to make his scheduled start Sunday against the Washington Nationals.

"We're right on track. He's going to be our starter tomorrow," manager Mike Matheny said.

The Cardinals have not heard from representatives of Major League Baseball but were gathering facts to determine whether any of the allegations made by the woman who filed the civil suit could trigger an investigation under the league's domestic violence rules.

Apr 30, 2016 1:19 PM

Don Mattingly pulled Adam Conley after 116 pitches despite having a no hitter through 7 2/3 innings.

Conley's exit elicited boos from Miller Park.

''It was easy right there,'' Mattingly said of the decision. ''I knew he couldn't finish. We weren't going to let him finish.''

Conley struck out seven and walked four.

''I never like coming out of the game no matter what the circumstances are, but considering where I was at the in the game and everything I knew what was going on,'' Conley said. ''I knew coming into the eighth I was already at about 100 (pitches).''

Conley's career high for pitches was 106 last season.
