A's Trade Patterson To Red Sox

The Athletics have traded utilityman Eric Patterson to the Red Sox for a minor-league left-hander. Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia was placed on the disabled list with a broken left foot on Saturday. Oakland received pitcher Fabian Williamson.

The Red Sox have acquired infielder-outfielder Eric Patterson from the A's for minor league pitcher Fabian Williamson, according to an Assocaited Press report. Getting Patterson, an announcement made in the middle of Boston?s game at San Francisco on Saturday, gives the Red Sox some added depth after second baseman Dustin Pedroia was placed on the 15-day DL with a broken left foot.

Orioles Acquire Jake Fox From Athletics

The Orioles have acquired infielder-outfielder Jake Fox from the Athletics for a minor leaguer and cash. Fox hit .214 with two home runs and 12 RBIs in 39 games for the A's this season. Baltimore sent righthander Ross Wolf to Oakland.

A's Acquire Conor Jackson

The D-backs and A's completed a trade Tuesday that sent outfielder Conor Jackson to Oakland and Minor League pitcher Sam Demel to Arizona. Jackson, 28, was hitting .238 with 11 doubles, one homer and 11 RBIs for the D-backs after missing most of last season due to illness. Demel, 24, was 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA and six saves in 22 games for Triple-A Sacramento. The right-hander is expected to join the D-backs in Boston on Wednesday, at which time the club will make a corresponding roster move. "Sam Demel gives us another quality arm in our attempt to improve the bullpen," Arizona general manager Josh Byrnes said. "Conor Jackson has been a class act during his time in the organization. We wish him well in Oakland."

A's Unlikely To Promote Top Prospects Soon

A number of teams have brought up their top prospects, but the Athletics aren't planning to do so anytime soon. The Giants added catcher/first baseman Buster Posey recently and the Nationals will soon recall phenom Stephen Strasburg. Oakland has outfielder Michael Taylor and first baseman Chris Carter at Triple-A Sacramento. Taylor, who is batting .244 with two homers and 25 RBIs in 39 games, has been slowed by a calf injury.

Chris Carter went 2-for-2 on Monday, with both hits coming on homers for Triple-A Sacramento. Carter came into the game hitless in his previous three games. Carter has an .812 OPS in 225 plate appearances.
