Mets Remain In Contact With Stephen Drew

Nov 28, 2014 6:47 PM

The New York Mets remain in contact with Scott Boras about the possibility of signing Stephen Drew, according to a source.

However, the source likened the situation to New York's pursuit of Michael Bourn last winter. Bourn eventually signed with the Cleveland Indians, but not before the Mets made a run at signing him.

Granderson: True New Yorkers Are Mets Fans

Oct 16, 2014 11:15 PM

Curtis Granderson lobbed a playful zinger at his former team on Tuesday while introduced as a member of the New York Mets.

Granderson spent the last four seasons with the New York Yankees, hitting 74 home runs.

"A lot of the people I've met in New York have always said that true New Yorkers are Mets fans," Granderson said. "So I'm excited to get a chance to see them all out there."

Granderson received a four-year, $60 million deal from the Mets, including a $13 million salary for 2014.

"They were open with me," he said of the Yankees. They said, 'Hey, we have a couple of other options that we're considering.' I said, 'I completely understand. We're doing the same thing.'"

Curtis Granderson, Mets Ramp Up Talks

Sep 16, 2014 8:49 PM

Curtis Granderson and the New York Mets are making progress on a three-year deal.

Granderson met with Sandy Alderson on Sunday.

The Mets already signed Chris Young this offseason, meaning the addition of Granderson would give their outfield a legitimate power boost.

Granderson suffered a broken forearm during spring training and a pinkie injury later in the season limited him to 245 plate appearances.

If the Mets sign Granderson, it would surely become the biggest contract of Alderson's four-year tenure.
