A's infielder Scott Sizemore, who was limited to just two games in the last two years because of knee injuries, cleared waivers and elected free agency on Friday.

Having already missed all of 2012 while rehabbing his surgically repaired left knee, Sizemore re-tore the ACL less than 10 days into the 2013 season.

The 28-year-old, who can play both third base and second base, is rehabbing in Arizona.
