The Minnesota Twins have claimed Bubba Thompson off waivers from the New York Yankees.

The Twins will be Thompson's fourth different team in the last six months.

Jeter Downs and Oscar Gonzalez passed through waivers and were assigned outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Thompson, 25, was designated for assignment Friday to open a roster spot for Luke Weaver.

Thompson was claimed by the Yankees off waivers on Jan. 4 from the Cincinnati Reds, which claimed him on Oct. 26 from the Kansas City Royals. The Royals had claimed him from the Texas Rangers on Aug 13.

Infielder Diego Castillo was claimed by the Mets off waivers from the Diamondbacks on Friday.

The 26-year-old appeared in one big league game last year, flying out as a pinch hitter July 31. He hit .313 with 33 doubles, three home runs, 72 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 124 games at Triple-A Reno.

Outfielder Bubba Thompson was claimed by the New York Yankees off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday.

The 25-year-old hit .170 (9 for 53) with no homers, 4 RBIs and 4 stolen bases in 37 games with Texas last year. He batted .258 with 6 homers, 34 RBIs and 27 steals in 65 games with Triple-A Round Rock and Omaha.
