The move was meant at least partly as a defensive one to keep Napoli to going to a team like the rival Rays. According to the source, the Angels likely will pull Napoli back.

The Tigers may be an excellent fit, because they need a catcher and a hitter for the middle of their order."

"I'm pretty much set in knowing what I'm going to do after this year," Lowell said Sunday. "It will be fun. It will be fun enjoying my kids." Lowell is hitting .229 with a .685 OPS on the season.
