McCarthy Re-Signs With Rangers
Pitcher Brandon McCarthy was among seven players to sign one-year deals with the Rangers on Monday, as reported by Yahoo Sports.
Also signing were fellow righthanders Omar Beltre, Wes Littleton, and Alexi Ogando; lefthander A.J. Murray; infielder Travis Metcalf; and outfielder David Murphy.
Pirates Officially Sign Byung-Hyun Kim
The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed right-handed pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim to a one year contract. The Pirates have designated infielder Ray Olmedo for assignment.
"Byung-Hyun Kim is a veteran right handed pitcher who has pitched and wants to again pitch, late in bullpen," said Huntington. "He has been tough on right-handed hitters over the past three seasons and had both left-handed hitters and right-handed hitters when he pitched primarily as a reliever. Byung-Hyun will hwill a role on our club as a reliever, and he adds an experienced option for us in our bullpen competition."
Reds Sign Fogg To One-Year Deal
The Reds signed free-agent RHP Josh Fogg to a one-year contract Thursday, as reported by Yahoo.com.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Rocky Mountain News reported that the deal is worth $1M.
Fogg has spent the last two seasons with the Rockies. In 2007, he went 10-9 with a 4.94 ERA in 29 starts and one relief appearance.
Howard Wins Record-Breaking Arbitration Case
Ryan Howard won his arbitration case against the Phillies and will make $10 million in 2008.
This was the highest amount given to a winning player in an arbitration case.
Howard 'deserved' a salary of $8.5 million in 2007, despite missing significant time due to injury. He had a Reina Value of +844%.

Arizona's J. Byrnes, Hall Get 8-Year Extensions
The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed Josh Byrnes and Derrick Hall to eight-year extensions, according to the Arizona Central.
The contracts will be announced on Thursday.
Mets Invite Clark To Spring Training
The Mets on Friday signed outfielder Brady Clark to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training, according to Yahoo Sports.
Clark split last season between the Dodgers and Padres, hitting .262 with 11 RBI in 68 games.
Bard Agrees To Deal With Padres
The Padres and catcher Josh Bard agreed to terms on a one-year deal on Thursday, according to the Union-Tribune.
Bard was eligible for arbitration.
Dodgers, Saito Agree To One-Year, $2M Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers and pitcher Takashi Saito have agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth $2 million, according to the Associated Press.
"I'm very relieved to clean everything up," he said through a translator on Wednesday. "It just feels a lot better not having to worry about my contract. I'm just very happy that the Dodgers consider me a very important part of the team."

The San Diego Padres and shortstop Khalil Greene finalized a two-year deal worth $11 million on Monday night, according to the Associated Press.
He will make $4.5 million in 2008 and $6.5 million in 2009.
Pirates Sign Mientkiewicz To Minor League Deal
The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. The announcement was made by Pirates Senior Vice President, General Manager Neal Huntington.
Mientkiewicz spent nearly the entire 2007 season with the New York Yankees, where he hit .277 (46-for-166) with 12 doubles, five home runs and 24 RBI in 72 games. The 33-year old first baseman also made just two errors in 507 total chances (48 starts) at first base.
