The Angels and left-hander Brian Fuentes have agreed to a two-year contract, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney. Fuentes saved 30 games for the Colorado Rockies last season with a 2.73 ERA in 62 2/3 innings. The deal is reportedly worth $17.5 million over two seasons. The Cubs agreed to terms with versatile free agent infielder Aaron Miles on a two-year, $4.9 million contract, adding important depth to the middle infield. Miles, a switch-hitter who spent the past three seasons with St. Louis, played seven positions for the Cardinals last season, primarily second base (49 starts) and shortstop (24). The Dodgers have signed right-hander Claudio Vargas to an incentive-laden, one-year deal. Vargas will be paid a base salary of $400,000 and can earn an additional $1.4 million in incentives.

The Tampa Bay Rays have signed right-handed relief pitcher Joe Nelson to a one-year contract. Nelson, 34, went 3-1 with one save and a 2.00 ERA in a career-high 59 relief outings for the Marlins in 2008. His ERA ranked third among National League relievers (10th in majors) behind the Dodgers? Hong-Chih Kuo (1.69) and the Phillies? Brad Lidge (1.95). "We feel like Joe can really help our bullpen,? said Rays Executive Vice President, Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman. ?He had a tremendous season in 2008 and has been very effective against both left-handed and right-handed hitters. Our bullpen was a large part of our success in 2008 and our quest is to have one of the top bullpens in the American League on an annual basis. Adding Joe certainly helps on that front."

Pitcher Daniel Cabrera finalized his one-year, $2.6 million contract with the Nationals after passing a physical on Monday. Cabrera went 48-59 with a 5.05 ERA in 147 games over five seasons in Baltimore.

The Reds on Saturday signed free-agent center fielder Willy Taveras to a two-year contract. Financial terms of the contract weren't immediately known.

The San Francisco Giants have signed free agent left-hander Randy Johnson to a one-year contract, club Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Sabean announced today. Per club policy, financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The Nationals have signed veteran outfielder Corey Patterson, pitchers Jorge Sosa and Gustavo Chacin, infielder Jose Castillo, and catcher Gustavo Molina to minor league contracts. If Patterson is added to the 40-man roster, he will get an $800,000, one-year deal, with $25,000 each for 400 and 450 plate appearances. If Sosa makes the 40-man roster, he gets a split deal, with salaries of $850,000 in the majors and $90,000 in the minors. If Chacin is added to the 40-man, he would get a $600,000, one-year contract.

The Padres and pitcher Kevin Correia have reached terms on a minor league contract, with both sides expecting that Correia will compete for a starting job in spring training. The $750,000 salary is contingent on Correia winning a spot on the 25-man roster. "I view him having a solid shot at the back end of our rotation," said General Manager Kevin Towers. Correia has spent his entire career with the San Francisco Giants.

On Wednesday, Joe Nelson, whom the Marlins non-tendered, agreed to terms on a one-year deal for $1.3 million with the Tampa Bay Rays. Nelson was contacted by 20 teams after the Marlins parted company with the 34-year-old reliever, who turned in his best major league season in 2008.
