The Dodgers signed former White Sox infielder Pablo Ozuna on Sunday and designated infielder Luis Maza for assignment, according to an Associated Press report.

The New York Yankees have reached a tentative agreement with Richie Sexson, who was released by the Seattle Mariners a week ago. Sexson fits in New York because the Yankees needed a right-handed slugger to match up against left-handed pitching -- and Sexson had a .344 average against lefties this year. Assuming the deal is completed, he'll be in the lineup Saturday against Oakland.

The Diamondbacks signed their first-round pick from June?s draft lefthander Daniel Schlereth on Wednesday, as reported by Yahoo.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Houston has signed first-round pick Jason Castro to a multi-year deal, according to The Houston Chronicle. The Astros took Castro, a Stanford junior catcher, with the 10th overall in last month's draft. "He was treated very fairly," Astros' scouting director Bobby Heck said while declining to divulge the amount of the deal.

The Pirates have agreed to terms with RHP Brent Klinger, their 21st round selection from the June First-Year Player Draft. Klinger went 6-4 with a 3.18 ERA and 62 strikeouts this year at Glendale Community College. The Pirates have now signed 27 of the 50 players selected in this year's draft.

The Cubs signed first-round draft pick Andrew Cashner on Thursday, giving the RHP a deal that includes a $1.54M signing bonus, $75,000 toward education and an invitation to spring training next year. He will report to the Cubs? rookie league team in Mesa, Arizona, and then move onto short-season A-ball in Boise, Idaho.

Jemile Weeks, a first-round pick of the A's in June's draft, agreed to terms on a $1.91 million signing bonus Tuesday, according to The Oakland Tribune. The 12th overall pick suited up for batting practice and shagged fly balls. "It seems like it all came together in timely fashion," Weeks said. "I'm feeling great, ready to play. As soon as they're ready to get me out there, I'm ready to go." He'll be assigned to low Single-A Kane County of the Midwest League although it was unclear when he'd report.

Brad Lidge signed a $37.5 million, three-year contract extension with the Phillies on Sunday, according to an Associated Press report. Lidge would?ve been a free agent after this season. The 31-year-old right-handed closer has 19 saves in 19 chances and a 0.77 ERA in 35 appearances in his first season in Philadelphia.

The Kansas City Royals have named J.J. Picollo their assistant general manager/scouting and player development. Picollo will serve as the final authority for free agent scouting and will continue in his current role as the player development director. ?J.J. has a very natural way of leading people,? Royals' General Manager Dayton Moore said. ?His expertise in scouting and player development qualifies him to lead these departments, therefore creating greater synergy and production.? Picollo joined the Royals as the director of player development on Aug. 13, 2006 after working in both scouting and player development for the Atlanta Braves since 1999.
