The buying group led by Chuck Greenberg and Nolan Ryan acquired the Texas Rangers for $570 million, several sources have told SI.com.
The group outbid former superagent Dennis Gilbert's group, which is thought to have offered about $525 million.
Previous owner Tom Hicks purchased the Rangers for $250 million in 1998.

Bradley Sued For Back Rent
Milton Bradley signed a lease for a luxury Magnificent Mile condo just as the baseball season was starting last season, but his landlord says he walked out on the $15,000-a-month lease in the fall.
The landlord and the realty company that helped lease the 24th-floor Park Hyatt condo, 800 N. Michigan Ave., are now suing Bradley for $44,100 in back rent, late fees and interest through this month.
SpongeTech Sued By Mets Over Citi Field Advertising
SpongeTech Delivery Systems, a New York firm that makes soap-filled sponges, is the target of a lawsuit from the Mets' Citi Field that alleges the company stiffed the ballpark out of $300,000 owed for stadium-related advertising by sending them a bad check and then promising a wire transfer that never came.
According to the lawsuit, SpongeTech agreed to pay Queens Ballpark Co., the Wilpon family controlled entity that runs Citi Field, $3.34 million in a three-year deal that included a sign on the club-level fa?ade in left field, a sign on the outfield fence in right field and a panel on the rotating sign behind home plate.
Marlins Agree To Raise Team Payroll
The Marlins have reached an agreement with the players' union to increase spending.
There have been complaints that the team's payroll has been low in order to violate baseball's revenue sharing provisions.
The deal was announced on Tuesday in a joint statement by the Marlins, the union and MLB.
The Marlins have had the lowest payroll in MLB in three of the past four seasons.
FBI Knew Of McGwire's Steroid Use
The FBI knew that legendary slugger Mark McGwire used steroids during his career.
McGwire admitted as much on Monday, but retired FBI agent Gary Stejskal uncovered the details of McGwire's doping regimen from informants almost two decades ago.
Stejskal, who helped lead the first major federal investigation into illegal steroid distribution called Operation Equine, confirmed that McGwire and his then-Oakland A's teammate, Jose Canseco, were among those identified as steroid users during the probe that ran from 1989 to 1993.
Bonds' Son Charged In Fight With Mother
Prosecutors in San Mateo County (Cali.) have charged Barry Bonds' son with five misdemeanors after he allegedly threw a doorknob at his mother.
Nikolai Bonds, 20, faces charges of battery, false imprisonment, vandalism, making threats to an officer and obstructing an officer.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said Bonds could face up to two years in jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 12.
