Pirates Say $120M Debt Is Manageable
The Pirates were $120 million in debt last year, but president Frank Coonelly says the debt is manageable.
Coonelly hinted that Pittsburgh was in much worse financial shape a few years ago.
"Each of the last two years, we increased our debt," Coonelly said.
"That's not increased by taking out a new loan, there is an MLB credit facility we're involved in and we also have a local facility involved. We're comfortable with our debt level as it is, as are our banks. We meet with the banks on a regular basis and the banks are comfortable with our debt level."

Pettitte's Statement Was Key To Clemens' Indictment
Andy Pettitte's sworn statement that Roger Clemens admitted to using human growth hormone was a critical factor in a federal grand jury's decision to indict Clemens on charges he lied to Congress.
"If it was just Roger versus [Brian] McNamee, it's a different matchup," former Rep. Tom Davis of Virgina said.
"We didn't call Andy Pettitte, we deposed him, and he supported McNamee and that was a problem for [Clemens]," Davis added. "Without Pettitte, neither McNamee nor Clemens was that articulate or credible."

Fan Sues Mets, MLB Over Broken Bat
A Mets fan who says a flying piece of a broken baseball bat shattered his face is suing the team and Major League Baseball.
James G. Falzon's lawsuits say the severed barrel of a maple bat became "a dangerous projectile" and broke bones in his face during an August 2007 Braves game at Shea Stadium.
Falzon says the team, the league and Rawlings-brand bat maker the Jarden Corp. should have done more to protect fans from break-prone maple bats.
