Man Convicted Of Murder In Adenhart's Death

A jury convicted a man of murder Monday in the drunken-driving deaths of Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two other people, according to an Associated Press report. The jury also found Andrew Gallo, 23, guilty of hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol and causing great bodily injury.

Mitchell To Stand Trial In Assault Case

A judge has ordered former National League MVP Kevin Mitchell to stand trial on charges of punching a man several times in the head in July at a golf club in Southern California. The former Giants and Mets slugger faces four years in prison if convicted of battery and assault. A judge on Wednesday scheduled his trial for Nov. 3 in San Diego County. Mitchell, 48, has pleaded not guilty and is free on $25,000 bail.

Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez violated a restraining order by sending dozens of text messages to his girlfriend recently. He allegedly sent 56 text messages in the weeks after he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend's father outside a family lounge at Citi Field and will face additional charges. Authorities said he'll now be charged with criminal contempt.

McCourt: Wife Didn't Want Dodgers

Frank McCourt says his estranged wife wanted no part in the risk associated with buying the team six years ago. McCourt testified at his divorce trial Thursday that his wife and former Dodger CEO Jamie McCourt told him repeatedly she wanted her own nest egg, comprised of expensive homes. The couple are fighting over the validity of a postnuptial agreement that supposedly gives him the Dodgers.
