Carlos Martinez Suspended 80 Games For PED Use

May 31, 2022 8:25 AM

Carlos Martinez has been suspended 80 games by Major League Baseball after testing positive for Ibutamoren, which is in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Martinez, who signed a five-year contract extension with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2017, had his club option for 2022 declined after a series of rough seasons.

He signed a minor league deal with the San Francisco Giants this March, but was released in April. He landed with the Boston Red Sox, but managed just two starts for Triple-A Worcester before he was released again.

Tim Anderson Has Suspension Reduced To Fine

May 10, 2022 12:08 PM

Tim Anderson had his one-game suspension for making an obscene gesture toward fans in a game in Cleveland recently reduced to just a fine.

After a fan made a comment to Anderson in the first game of a doubleheader on April 20, Anderson was caught on camera flashing his middle finger in the direction of the fan.

He appealed and won, avoiding sitting out a game.

Anderson was suspended for the first three games of the 2022 season after making contact with an umpire late last year, which was reduced to two games upon appeal.
