While waiting to hear if his 211-game suspension will be upheld by arbitrator Fredric Horowitz, Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez remains optimistic that he will be allowed to play next season, according to an ESPN.com report.

"Yes, I feel confident. I'm preparing as always, working hard. I feel completely healthy, I have the entire offseason to prepare for it," Rodriguez said in Spanish to a group of journalists Saturday at the Punta Espada golf course in the Dominican Republic.

Alex Rodriguez Earns $20M Per Year From Non-Baseball Business

Nov 26, 2014 1:50 AM

Alex Rodriguez could be suspended this season in which he would lose his entire 2014 salary of $27.5 million plus an additional $6 million for passing Willie Mays on the all-time home run list.

Rodriguez, however, has become a very wise investor with business ventures in gyms, car dealerships and low-end real estate.

“There’s nothing wrong with a 6 percent yield when you’re making good W-2 income,” said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez's Newport Property Ventures owns 6,000 rental units and manages an additional 6,000.

Rodriguez earns as much as $20 million per year from non-baseball sources.
