The Cincinnati Reds acquired reliever Sam Moll in a trade with the Oakland Athletics on Monday.

The addition of Moll puts another left-hander in Cincinnati's bullpen as it tries to become the first team to win a division after losing at least 100 games in the previous season. 

The San Francisco Giants acquired outfielder AJ Pollock and utilityman Mark Mathias from the Seattle Mariners on Monday for a player to be named later, both teams announced.

Pollock is on the injured list with a hamstring strain and prior to that had struggled after signing a one-year, $7 million free agent contract with Seattle in the offseason. 

The Cubs announced Monday they reacquired Washington Nationals third baseman Jeimer Candelario, nearly six years to the day they traded him to the Detroit Tigers.

In return, the Cubs are sending prospects Kevin Made and DJ Herz back to the Nationals.

The New York Mets continued to deal from their disappointing 2023 team, trading outfielder Mark Canha to the Milwaukee Brewers for minor league pitcher Justin Jarvis, the team announced Monday

The 34-year-old Canha was a vital performer during the Mets' 101-win campaign in 2022 and still had the third-highest on-base percentage among New York's regulars this year.

The struggling Diamondbacks acquired closer Paul Sewald from the Seattle Mariners on Monday, hoping to shore up a bullpen that has faltered over the past month and taken Arizona from leading the National League West to out of a playoff spot.

The Rays reached a deal to acquire veteran right-handed starter Aaron Civale from the Guardians on Monday, agreeing to part with slugging first-base prospect Kyle Manzardo, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

Neither club has confirmed the trade. Manzardo, 23, is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No. 37 prospect in the game.
 

The Los Angeles Angels bolstered their lineup in a trade with the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, acquiring infielder C.J. Cron and outfielder Randal Grichuk along with cash considerations for minor league LHP Mason Albright and RHP Jake Madden.

After trading Max Scherzer to the Texas Rangers, general manager Billy Eppler insisted the New York Mets are not tearing down their underachieving team.

"I do want to be clear that it's not a rebuild. It's not a fire sale," Eppler said Sunday at Citi Field. "It's not a liquidation."

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired flamethrowing reliever Jordan Hicks from the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, reinforcing their bullpen the day after they placed closer Jordan Romano on the injured list.

Hicks, perhaps the most sought-after relief arm on the trade market, was the first of what's expected to be a number of players from a disappointing Cardinals team to move. Soon after the Hicks deal was consummated, St. Louis traded left-handed starter Jordan Montgomery and right-handed reliever Chris Stratton to Texas.

In return for Hicks, the Blue Jays will send a pair of minor league right-handers to St. Louis: 21-year-old Sem Robberse and 22-year-old Adam Kloffenstein, both at Double-A.

The Texas Rangers further fortified themselves for a championship run Sunday, acquiring left-handed starter Jordan Montgomery and right-handed reliever Chris Stratton from the St. Louis Cardinals one day after finalizing a deal for ace Max Scherzer.

With the best offense in baseball, the Rangers tapped into their plentiful minor league system, sending two top prospects -- infielder Thomas Saggese and right-hander Tekoah Roby -- along with left-handed reliever John King to St. Louis.
