Out Of Options, Mariners Release Bradley

Sep 21, 2014 11:04 PM

The Mariners have released outfielder Milton Bradley, cutting ties with the veteran after designating him for assignment last week. Seattle had 10 days to trade, release or send him to the minors after designating him. He was making $13 million this season. "The situation with Milton is that we determined he's not part of our future and not part of our present," Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said last week.

The Mariners have designated outfielder Milton Bradley for assignment as he continues to struggle from the plate, according to an ESPN.com report on Monday. The move, which gives Seattle 10 days to trade, release or outright Bradley's contract, comes six days after Bradley was suspended for a game after an ejection at Boston for arguing with umpires.

Wedge Not Happy With M's Effort

Oct 16, 2014 4:52 PM

The Mariners lost two straight to the White Sox over the weekend, including a 5-2 decision in 10 innings Sunday. To a man offensively, we have to find a way to get better, Manager Eric Wedge said in a strong tone. Were not going to go all year scoring two or three runs a game. That sure is not going to happen. Weve got to get better to a man at squaring up the baseball and doing a better job.

Should Mariners Go After Fielder?

Jul 5, 2014 7:59 AM

The Mariners are in need of a left-handed power hitter, which has led Larry Stone of The Seattle Times to question whether the team should make a run at Milwaukee's Prince Fielder. Seattle has players coming off the books after the 2011 season, making it more feasible that they could afford Fielder. "It's just May 1, but already the buzz is starting to build about Fielder's impending free agency, when he'll be the premier offensive player available not named Albert Pujols (and I still have a strong belief that Pujols will never leave the Cardinals' grasp, when push comes to shove and check comes to book)," Stone writes.
